Let's talk

You are to keep a journal as you read the novel, Wonderstruck. What does it cause you to feel or think about? What are you learning? What are some interesting ideas or important events that have taken place? What are some of your predictions for this book? How does this book relate to your life or to today's society?

You must follow this format:
To help the others reading your post put the chapter and page number from the book that you are discussing or referring to. Answer as many of these questions that apply.  Furthermore, ask some of your own questions. Create links in your post to direct others to resources that can lend themselves to the issues discussed in the book.

  1. Although I am a fast reader, I have not gotten very far in the book just yet but so far it is pretty interesting. At first I thought Winston actually had no privacy in his mind and the thought police could actually read your mind.

  2. So far I think the mood of the book is very frightening. Can you imagine that you have no where to escape from Big Brother watching you? You have no freedom of thought or no freedom of reaction. Everything has to be in line with what the government orders. But now Winston has a way to avoid Big Brother, and he is actually taking the chance. I wonder would I do the same. Would I stand up against the oppression or would I live in the oppress state. Would I try to escape to find the others who did rebell and are living outside of this area?
